I go to the library with the Bit at least once a week. We have a really awesome library with a great children’s section full of computers with educational games (now with touch screens so I don’t have to work the mouse for her, but she’s learning), tons of puzzles and lots and lots of books.

But I never get to see the rest of the library, other than the coffee shop. We never go upstairs to where the grownup books are.

This morning I needed a little diversion after an awful start to the day, so I took myself to the library by myself.

I wandered the nonfiction shelves, picking up whatever looked interesting.

This is what I came up with. library books

There are 10 books in all, on subjects ranging from creativity to habits, paper yarn to origami, the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi to blogging, poetry about food and improvisational sewing.

I’m sure I won’t get a chance to really read all of them, but there’s something really indulgent about going to the library and picking out anything you want. What a luxury to have all this fun waiting for me whenever I have time to sit down.

What little luxury can you give yourself today or this weekend? I’d love to hear what you do for a creative pick-me-up.
