Frugal Family Linky March 5

Whew! March already? I guess every year flies by like this, but man, it’s been a quick one.

This week in particular has been a little full, with work deadlines, snow days and a business-tripping husband.

Not a complaint, just really to say that I like having this linky as a chance to look back over the last week and think about what we’ve been up to.

My main “frugal” post this week was earlier today (see what I mean about a full week?) about turning an old board book into an art journal for a child (or for you, if you want). You can even make your own gesso that’s super cheap — you may even have everything you need for this project in your house already!

This Week’s Featured Posts frugal family linky top picks

There were so many great posts this week (and I was so bad about sharing them, so I’ll have to play catch up this week) it’s been really hard for me to choose my favorites.

My in-real-life blogging and crafty buddy Junque Rethunque shared some great ideas for repurposing old sweaters. I am in love with her bags and flowers and really need to make some for myself soon.

We’re big fans of tinkering here at ODC HQ, and I adore the idea of doing a tinkering or inventor’s box play date. Basically you’re collecting a bunch of random stuff and seeing what the kids do with it. Check out Little Worlds for more information on what to gather and how to pull it off.

Bean bags are great little toys to toss, play games with and use in all sorts of ways. Tiny Tots Adventures used heavy plastic from a food sealer to make her own rice and bean bags, which are extra cool because of the use of dyed rice and beans.
