Frugal Family Linky March 19

It’s been quite the week here at ODC HQ, with me teaching my first in-person knitting class is a really long time, the girl being sick for a couple of days and trying to cram in two weeks of work in one week in preparation for spring break!

But over the weekend we started our garden, if you can call it that, by planting some broccoli and strawberries in pots and starting some seeds. It always feels good to get some things in dirt, even if they’re not technically in the ground yet. Just a couple more weeks and we can really get going.

It’s probably because I’m thinking about spring break that I was particularly interested in kid’s activities this week.

My co-host Witty Hoots had a great idea for painting on fabric, which I’ve been wanting to try myself, and would be a lot of fun to do with the girl. We have some muslin it would be really fun to paint and then make into a skirt or something.

The Bubble Wrap Runway from Hands On as We Grow is a great idea for using some of the vast quantities of bubble wrap we have in the house, and would be great for a rainy day (or snowy day, or sick day). I actually should have remembered this one yesterday when the girl was home “sick” but feeling totally better and playing with trucks. Next time!

And with Easter coming up soon, you might be thinking of what to put in your kids’ Easter baskets. Syncopated Mama has 20 ideas for Easter basket gifts under $5 each, including lots of great books, finger puppets, toys and more.
