Frugal Family Linky June 18

This week I made a tote bag a little more colorful, and got the girl excited about painting on canvas bags. Though I used one I already had, I’m thinking of a run to the dollar store for some summer fun things and may be adding a plain bag to my list so she can decorate one of her own. That will be a great project for a too-hot day, or a rainy day if it keeps raining like it has been!

You know I love a good fairy garden, and this one from Mom on the Move is adorable. They used things they already had and made some items (the cup a construction paper houses are so cute!). I’m thinking I need to pull out some glass stones to make a path and a pond in our fairy garden, too.

We are big fans of Lego in this house, and though the girl loves kits she also likes to just build with them. These ideas for building Lego catapults from Captain Smarty Pants are great, and I’ll be studying them to figure out how we can make our own. Engineering!

And summer is, of course, a time of big messes, so I appreciate this recipe for DIY hand soap made with just three ingredients (well, four if you count water) from Easy Peasy Mom. Add an essential oil with a scent your kids like and they’ll happily wash their hands after playing outside. Maybe.
