Hello, friends! If you’re not a regular visitor here on non-linky days, I want to make sure you check out my post from yesterday about how you can get up to 30 free Scholastic books for your home library or to donate around by buying select Kellogg’s products (yes, it’s a sponsored post, but it’s also really cool).
OK, then, back to the business at hand!
We haven’t gotten to the point of giving the girl an allowance yet, though she does sometimes get a little change for helping with chores. I really enjoyed reading this post from Letters in the Sand about how her family came up with an allowance plan for their kids. There are also links to some resources that can help kids learn about money. We recently checked out an activity set from the local library with toy bills and coins and an activity book to help with learning about the different denominations, so you might want to check your library for resources, too.
You probably have all the materials needed to make a fun flying toy out of light cardboard and a skewer from Planet Smarty. School-age kids can probably make it without a lot of supervision, and you can play with it inside or outside depending on the weather and the height of your ceilings.
And this collection of kids’ kitchen printables from Study at Home Mama has a lot of fun stuff, including recipes, printable grocery lists, nutrition themed activities, playdough mats, vocabulary cards and more, great for teaching kids about food and keeping them entertained while waiting for dinner.
