Something that is good to try when you aren’t feeling very creative is to go back to kid crafts.
It happens that we have a whole lot of cardboard rolls (TP rolls or paper towel rolls, it doesn’t matter what you use) lying around, which got me thinking of using one in a craft.
I decided I wanted to make a little animal with one, and that it would be an owl.
How to Make a Cardboard Roll Animal
You can take this a bunch of different ways, but I started with a cardboard tube and folded it in half so it would be flatter to draw on.
I pressed the top edges toward each other to make the ear shapes on the sides.
I added a nose and a body with wings, and doodled scallops everywhere.
I decided to make mine a little fancier with a colorful pattern on the wings.
You could add googly eyes, craft feathers, felt, paint or anything else you wanted.
Of course you don’t have to make an owl, either. I found this board on Pinterest that, as of this writing, had 102 cardboard tube crafts, so pick one that suits your fancy or use an idea as a jumping off point for something you want to make.
This is a simple but fun craft idea you can do with your kids and try over and over making all sorts of animals and other creations.
