I’m getting a little frantic in the busy/excited sense about the girl’s birthday party this weekend. We’re doing it at home, and the theme is butterflies. I have quite a bit more crafting I would like to do before it’s here, so we’ll see what actually gets done.
Wish me luck on successfully getting that butterfly-shaped cake out of the pan! I have a feeling I’m going to need it.
This Week’s Featured Posts
One of the things I want to make is some kind of butterfly garland for the fireplace (and/or the staircase). I thought about crocheting butterflies, or making them out of paper, but I think I might be making felt shapes and sewing them together instead.
I’ll probably end up doing something similar but less elaborate than the felt garlands shared this week from Lolly Jane (tutorial by telafante). It’s a really cute and easy method to make something adorable that will also be cute in her room when the party is over.
This back to school plastic canvas pencil that doubles as a candy bar holder is a sweet way to give your kid a treat during the first week of school, or make them to hold a little something for the teacher. Get the tutorial at Creatively Homemade.
Gardening with kids is fun, and while it’s a classic garden craft to grow seeds in jars so you can see what’s happening, I love this spin on it from Rookie Parenting, which is an upcycling project, too, because they planted seeds in an old CD case. Kind of crazy, but also cool.

There are just a few simple rules:
- Link to a specific post, not your home page.
- Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.

- Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.
- Have fun!
