Did anyone try writing poetry last week? It’s seriously a lot of fun.

This week’s creativity boost is a different kind of prompt. Not a specific type of creative act, but something to get you past wondering where to begin that you can take to whatever kind of creative act you like.

Because it’s Halloween today, this week’s prompt is to make something orange or using orange as the jumping off point.Creativity Boost: Make something orange

Make Something Orange Ideas

You could write a poem about orange. Here’s mine:

Nothing rhymes with orange

which doesn’t mean it isn’t

worthy of celebrating

Or do writing practice related to orange.

Paint something orange.

Make something with orange yarn or fabric. I’ve been working on a fun Linen Stitch cowl.

Carve a jack o’lantern or paint on a pumpkin.

Use orange thread in a cross-stitch or embroidery design.

Make orange playdough.

Or use orange as a jumping off point to somewhere else: fall, citrus, Florida, whatever springs to mind.

The idea is just to get you thinking about something you could create and then taking the time to do it.

I had a lot of fun coming up with and doing a lot of orange-themed activities last week, both on my own and with the girl. I hope you will come up with an orange-related thing you want to make or write or do this week, and if you do I’d love to hear about it! Leave a note in the comments about what you did, or share a picture on Instagram or elsewhere with the hashtag #ourdailycraft.

I’d love to know what you’re up to and where your creative practice is taking you.
