I hope you’re finding some moments of calm in this busy season to make something great for yourself. I’ve been busy knitting for everyone else, from my daughter and her teachers to my husband’s team at work, so I’m looking forward to sneaking in a little time to make something just for me.
Because it’s almost Christmas I wanted to pick some projects to share this week that are not necessarily holiday related that would be great to make for yourself or as a gift for someone else. Enjoy!
This Week’s Featured Posts
We’ve been watching the Star Wars movies with the girl, so of course I couldn’t resist sharing this crocheted Yoda doll from Lalka Crochetka. The site is in Polish, and there’s no pattern given, but it’s an amazing inspiration that I might have to try to mimic. (But my crochet skills are seriously lacking so I’m not sure I could pull it off.)
If, like me, you’re more of a knitter, check out the lovely Stockinette Striped Ombre Scarf from DIY Budget Girl. She complains about the curling (which is a natural consequence of knitting Stockinette, and there’s not much you can do about it). I did a scarf like this all in shades of green, and I actually really like it, but if you don’t you can cast on twice as many stitches and knit in the round, or make it ribbed or Garter Stitch instead.
If you’re not that into fiber crafts, this painted wooden bead necklace from White House Crafts is super cute and easy to make. It would be a great last-minute gift, too. She used three different colors of paint, but if you don’t have a variety of similar hues, add a little white paint, then a little more, to a color you have and love.
This Week’s Linky
Thank you for listing your creativity with us. Each week we will sponsor a new link party. Head over to the other co-hosts blogs to see all their fun stuff. We will also feature different projects so head over there to see if you were featured! Check them out here:
You can also find us on Pinterest, where we will share featured posts.
Don’t forget to grab our “featured on” button if you like!
There are just a few simple rules:
- Link to a specific post, not your home page.
- Link up something YOU made/wrote/created.
- Giveaways, other link parties, Etsy shops or business links are not accepted.
- Don’t link and run. Try to visit at least one link and show them some love. You may make a new friend.
- Have fun!
