Hi there, crafty friends! I have been busy this week revamping the girl’s playroom — which wasn’t getting used much at all other than as a dumping ground — into what’s been christened the White House Club House. After a week of drumming camp husband (who is a drummer, too) decided the girl needed her own drum set, so I’ve been clearing out and making a space we can all enjoy.
There’s still a lot of stuff to go through, and one big project I need to make, but I can’t wait to show you the results. In the meantime, let’s check out this week’s crafty goodness.
I love these upcycled map coasters from the Boondocks Blog. It’s a great creative reuse in two ways, and while these were a Father’s Day gift they’d be a fun wedding present if you highlighted where the bride and groom are from and where they are going on their honeymoon, or a gift for anyone, anytime.
My crafty colleague at Try It-Like It has a cute tutorial for a star-spangled lantern made with a little help from the Cricut. She also talks about why she thinks such a device is worth the cost, even when she’s not selling any items she makes. (I don’t have a personal cutting device, so I would probably use stickers for this project. Not quite the same but it would still be cute!)
And speaking of summer/Fourth of July crafts, isn’t this wreath from Clever Little Mouse sweet? And it is, in fact, clever, because she sews the fabric into a tube and cuts the foam wreath to slip the fabric tube on. You could also use red, white and blue felt for this project if you don’t have patriotic fabric on hand.
