Because it’s the beginning of a new month, we usually have a roundup of all of our favorites from the previous month, but we’re all so swamped with the beginning of school and holidays (and my daughter’s turning 6 on Saturday!) that we’re taking a bit of a break from that, but we’ll be back at it soon.
I’m been busy with birthday stuff — decidedly not very frugal, but lots of fun — and a project for a client this week, so I don’t have any special posts of mine to share, either.
I will tell you, though it’s completely unofficial, that one of my favorites from last month was the sensory spray chalk activity from Letters in the Sand. We still haven’t tried it but I want to!
With fall right around the corner it’s a great time to make some seasonal toys. This apple pie “busy bag” activity from Study at Home Mama is so cute and really pretty easy to put together, especially if you happen to have play apples already. Add to the fun with some cinnamon extract so it smells like an apple pie, too!
Because it’s back to school time, you might be looking for ways to get your kids’ stuff more organized. If so, check out these 10 DIY options for pencil and crayon holders from Non Toy Gifts. I love the little monsters made out of shampoo bottles.
The changing of the seasons offers lots of opportunities to get out in nature, and Mosswood Connections reminds us that nature is a great place to get free craft supplies. From sticks and leaves to rocks and pinecones, there’s a lot of great stuff out there.
