Hello, crafty friends! This week I finally admitted to being in a creative slump, but as the weather has been warmer this week I am starting to feel more like making again. I finally sewed the sleeves onto my daughter’s sweater (good thing it will be cool again next week!) and am thinking about some sewing I might do later today or tomorrow.
I hope you’re feeling the creative spirit wherever you are, and that these projects will inspire you to make something great today.
This Week’s Featured Posts
I found this idea for decorating candles with ribbon from Dazzle While Frazzled to be quite interesting. It’s an easy way to make plain candles match your decor, but I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to burn them once you’ve done this, and I’m not a huge fan of having things that you can’t use (though you could probably peel the ribbon back off as the candle gets warm if you want to burn it).
Julie at Sum of their Stories wanted to get to know her sewing machine a little better, so she stitched a decorative pillow cover using lots of different colors of thread and decorative stitches found on her sewing machine. What a great idea! This would be fun for kids who are learning to sew, too.
If you have a lot of scrapbook paper lying around that you aren’t using for it’s intended purpose (raises hand), making little paper reeds to use in projects is a great way to use a lot of it quickly. Life Beyond the Kitchen used a bunch of these rolled papers to decorate a plain mirror. The possibilities are many: picture frames, boxes, cut out shapes, etc.
