It’s safe to say that most if not all bloggers would like to get more traffic to their websites. Whether because we earn money from ads or people clicking on links or just because we want our voice to be heard, traffic is a good metric for a lot of things and something we all want.
In the old days of blogging, there wasn’t a lot you could do to bring more traffic to your site. There was some search engine optimization, though we didn’t call it that back then, but there weren’t really social networks to share content on.
Now it can feel like there are too many options, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed when trying to get more traffic for your site.
You need a plan.
Russell Brunson can help.
Who is Russell Brunson?
Russell Brunson is an online entrepreneur whose special expertise is sales funnels. He’s the CEO of $100M software company ClickFunnels, which he launched with Todd Dickerson in 2014 and he says is the fastest-growing non-venture backed software company in the world.
He’s also written several books that share his knowledge on how to get more traffic and ultimately more sales on your website.
What’s a Sales Funnel?
A sales funnel is the process that happens after someone signs up for an offer on your site. For most of us that means signing up for a newsletter, but it might be downloading a freebie or something else that allows you to capture their email address.
That person is now at the top of your funnel. What happens next helps you build a relationship with that person and ultimately (you hope) causes them to buy from you, share your content with their friends, causing them to enter the funnel and so on.
How Do You Get More Traffic to Your Funnel?
Russell Brunson’s latest book, Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers, is all about the classic and foundational techniques website owners and bloggers can use to attract traffic and get people into their funnels.
The way it works isn’t all that different from traditional advertising methods: know your audience, find out where they hang out, and hang out there, too.
Of course it sounds easy, but if it were, tens of thousands of businesses wouldn’t fail every year because they can’t find or attract their ideal clients.
Brunson lays out how to find the ideal people who are already reaching your potential audience and how to infiltrate their communities the right way so as to both get more traffic and build relationships with those influencers so they might share your content with their audiences, too.

30 Day Traffic Building Challenge
In addition to reading the book I’ve been taking part in a 30-day traffic building challenge, which I have mostly been sharing about on Twitter.
You could make your own challenge as you work through the book, identify your “dream 100” (the top influencers, websites, Facebook groups, etc. where your people hang out) and work out how to build relationships or buy your way into those places.
The idea is to remember that it doesn’t take a long time to start seeing results, but with consistent effort you can continue to get more traffic, more subscribers and more sales.
