There’s been a lot of love for my crochet shorts patterns roundup (enough that I’ll probably post more soon) so let’s look at some crochet tank top patterns to complete the outfit!

Easy Crochet Tank Top Patterns

None of these crochet tank top patterns are actually difficult, but these first few are one that would be great for new crocheters or as first garment projects.

The Summer Crochet Cropped pattern from KnitCro Addict is super cute, and you don’t have to make it cropped if you don’t want to. it’s worked in mostly double crochet stitches with a little decreasing around the armholes and super cute picot edging. It uses DK weight yarn and has six size options. It’s worked flat in two pieces from the bottom up.

The crochet ribbed tank top by For the Frills is another easy top made in pieces, but these are worked from side to side instead of bottom up. This allows the ribbed stitch to go up and down along the body. There is a fair bit of shaping to make the scoop neck in this manner, but the pattern includes a video tutorial if you need help. It calls for DK weight yarn and there are seven sizes, including options for a cropped or standard length.

The Flower Child Circle Tank from Two of Wands uses worsted weight yarn and a combination of stitches that helps shape the garment and make it more airy as you progress. It’s available in six sizes and you can purchase the pattern directly from Two of Wands or get it as a kit from Lion Brand Yarn.

Eyelet and Mesh Tank Top Patterns

The Peaks Tank Top by Anna Erlandsson is a free Ravelry download that has pretty chevrons made with eyelets in an allover pattern. Note there are only two sizes on this one but you could change up the sizing by using different yarn or a bigger hook if you need to. As written the pattern calls for sport weight yarn. It’s worked from the bottom up.

Add some mesh to your wardrobe with the Summer Vacation top from Mama in a Stitch. This easy top is very close to just being two rectangles stitched together. It comes in six sizes and uses DK weight yarn. The actual bust circumference of the top ranges from 31 to 51 inches, or 78.74 to 129.5 cm.

The Cleopatra Tank from Two Brothers Blankets has a mesh bodice and calls for a sport weight or light DK yarn. It’s worked from the top down in continuous rounds for the bodice and turned rounds for the body, which is worked in herringbone double crochet. The pattern includes kids’ sizes 2-10 and women’s sizes XS-2X.

The Calvin Tank from Wool and the Gang is made with two rectangles, with a mesh portion at the top and a double crochet body. There are four size options and it includes fun cord and tassel detailing (that is of course optional if you want to keep it plain). You can grab the pattern and watch video tutorials for the design in a class on Craftsy.

A Crocheted Simplicity has a great eyelet crochet tank top pattern worked in sport weight yarn with nine size options. This is a nice alternative to allover mesh that still produces good air flow. this top is worked flat in two identical pieces from the bottom up.

V-Neck Tank Top Patterns

Add a little extra cuteness to your V-neck with the Scallop V-Neck tank top from For the Frills. This easy design starts from the straps and becomes four triangles that are stitched together to make the V-neck portion, while the body is worked in rounds from the top down. The pattern has seven sizes and calls for a sport weight yarn.

The Chevron tank top from The Knotty Lace uses the chevron shape to make a V neckline. The pattern uses two colors of superfine yarn and is worked from the top down in pieces. There are nine size options to choose from.

Lemon peel stitch is lots of fun to stitch and gives a thick enough fabric that you don’t have to wear another tank top underneath it. This pattern from Heart Hook Home uses fingering weight yarn and comes in nine sizes. The body is worked in a tub with straps added after, giving it a matching V-neck on both sides.

Halter Tops and Other Shapes

The Knotty Lace has a cute light halter top pattern with eyelet columns near the center front. It comes in nine sizes and calls for super fine yarn. This one just looks really comfortable and introduces you to paddle stitch if you don’t already know it (there are video tutorials to help).
