I always have big ambitions when it comes to Halloween. It’s my daughter’s favorite holiday, and I always want to do it up big, with lots of decorations, a countdown calendar and lots of fun activities.
Of course she’s a teenager now and much less into directed crafts and activities than she used to be. But I still love Halloween craft kits and making projects we can use as decor throughout spooky season. Here are a few of my favorites.
Halloween Lantern Kit
This cute paper luminary kit from Calenlou Crafts is great for kids or adults to make. It comes with the pumpkin lantern piece and your choice of fall, rainbow or Halloween colored transparent stickers to use to decorate the panels.
You’ll need to supply your own glue stick to put it together, plus an LED candle or light source to make it light up.
DIY Felt Garland Kit
Another cute on to make with kids is this felt garland with balls and ghosts by Twilli Designs. Young kids will need supervision using a sewing needle to poke the thread through the felt pieces, but the result is super cute.
You have lots of options for your design as the kit includes four felt ghosts and 50 felt balls in five colors. You could even take the ghosts off when it’s not spooky season and have a cute felt garland for all year.
Customizable Bracelet Kit
Make a Halloween bracelet just the way you want it with this craft kit from TenNineSevenJ. You can choose a pumpkin or black ghost theme, as well as up to 10 characters for personalization.
Add a name, initials, a Halloween themed word or whatever else you like. Other beads are a mix of color beads and on-theme beads such as skulls, ghosts, pumpkins and cats.
Pumpkin String Art
String art is a fun and easy craft that’s more for adults because of the use of nails. This kit from Crafts Three23 has the option of buying the wood piece pre-nailed or so you can nail it yourself, and with or without a hanger so you can display it on the wall or a shelf.
It comes with crochet thread in your choice of color for the body of the pumpkin (there 28 options) as well as green and brown for the stem.
Pumpkin Lantern Kit for 2
Play with air dry clay and make jack o’lantern shaped lanterns with this fun kit from Jasmine Pottery Studio. This is one of the Halloween craft kits that would be great to do with kids if they’re into it, and it makes a project you can use year after year.
This kit includes two bags of air-dry clay, a pot of clay glue, tools and paint you can use to decorate your pumpkin once it is dry. There’s also a link to a video you can watch if you need more help making your project.
Mini Halloween Cross Stitch Kit
This kit from Knit Knot Crafts includes everything you need to make four little Halloween cross stitch ornaments. There’s a spider, skull, cauldron and pumpkin, and you can make them and hang them together or give them as little Halloween gifts.
The kit includes four pieces of fabric to stitch on, all the embroidery floss you need, two needles, four little hoops, and Halloween themed felt and ribbon for finishing the projects. There are also patterns and instructions of course.
Ghost Frames Painting Kit
This one is a good option if you want crafts for a (small) crowd, as it includes supplies to make five ghost frames. This kit from Whisker Works includes a variety of frames with wooden cutouts of the ghosts, so all you need to do is paint and assemble.

Pumpkin Cross Stitch Kit
If you’d like a cross stitch kit that’s a little more involved, check out these amazing designs from Sweet Annet. Part of the charm is the pumpkin shaped frame, which is actually a blank for stitching directly onto (similar in technique to a stitchable journal cover).
The kit is a set of three designs, and you can purchase just the pumpkins and the cross stitch patterns to go in them, or a full kit that includes embroidery floss to make these creepy cute designs.
Black Cat Mosaic
This adorable black cat mosaic kit project from Artcolibri Mosaic would be on dispaly all the time in my house since I have a black cat and a tuxedo cat. But if you want it just for Halloween that’s your business.
The kit comes with the plywood shape and glass cut to make the design, as well as work gloves, grout and other supplies needed for making the project and full instructions to make it.
Bat Gourd Kit
These dried gourds are similar to wood when it comes to decorating them with paint or other embellishments. The bat craft kit from Meadowbrooke Gourds includes a small gourd with the mouth and bat shapes carved in (like the one on the right in this picture).
You’ll also get wings you can glue on to the body, a piece of ribbon, a base and a battery-operated light to put inside. You supply the paint or other decorative items you might want to add to your bat. The one on the left is an example of how it might look finished.
Halloween Hat Knitting Kit
And because I’m first and foremost a knitter in my heart, I couldn’t share Halloween craft kits without throwing in one for a knitting project. This one isn’t for beginners because it uses a lot of colorwork, but if you want everything you need for a colorful Halloween hat, this kit from Rosie Posie Knit Co is a great one.
The hat pattern includes instructions for multiple sizes from babies to adult and the kit has enough yarn to make the largest hat (which is adult large). You’ll get a digital copy of the pattern as well as a gift box filled with enough Malabrigo Rasta in all the colors you need to complete the hat, plus a pompom and button (you use the button to attach and remove the pompom so you can wash the hat), a yarn needle and a stitch marker. All you’ll need to supply is knitting needles.
The gift box also includes some hand salve and a little notebook, making it a great gift for a knitting friend any time of year.
