Sometimes it is fun to use old art in a different way, to look at it in a different way. Today’s challenge asks you to cut up old art and put it back together in a different way, lots of ways, or not at all to see what happens.
Playing with Cut Up Old Art
I decided to try this with my marble painting from day 29. Now, I loved this painting just the way ti was, but I thought, because it was abstract to begin with, it might be even more interesting in pieces.
So I folded it in half, again and again, and cut down the lines until I had eight pieces to play with (this was originally an 11×17 piece of construction paper).
I put the pieces down randomly (yes, on the floor in my office, don’t judge).
Then I mixed them up again.
I took out the emptier pieces and kept the four I liked the most and tried it again.
I love the idea of mounting some of these together in a different order from the way they were originally painted, or even just using them as backgrounds for greeting cards individually. There are lots of things you can do with a little bit of art!
If you try this I would love to see before and after shots.
Have you ever reused old art? I’d love to hear what you did with it!
