I’m the first to admit this one didn’t quite come out the way I intended, and it’s all down to me not really following the directions.

One thing that is good to do when you aren’t feeling very creative is to find something you can do that won’t take a lot of time. A small, easy to complete project gives you a quick win and can help put some credit in your creative bank account, so to speak. Make something small for a big creative boost.

I found this pattern to knit a butterfly from Buttons and Pickles a few weeks ago, and I thought it would be a perfect thing to knit up as a sample to show the kids in my fibers arts classes what you can do with a simple bit of Garter Stitch knitting.

Hers is really cute, in a great multicolored yarn.

The color is actually fun, but I went awry in the assembly (didn’t read the directions) and mine doesn’t quite look like a butterfly.

It’s my creative interpretation, maybe. It could almost be a hair bow. knit butterfly small project

But it is still nice to have even a tiny, misshapen project in the win column for the week. And I can probably fix it with a little more stitching. Even if I can’t, it would be super easy to make another.

This weekend I hope you’ll take some time to make something small, something you can complete without too much effort in a short amount of time.

Use someone else’s instructions or go your own way.

Just make something. If I can do it, I know you can.

And if you do, I’d love to see your finished project and hear all about it!
