These Easter basket knitting patterns of all sizes are great for stitching up a bit of holiday fun. Whether you need a basket to hold a few little treats or big enough for the whole egg hunt you’ll find the perfect project here.

Mini Easter Basket Knitting Patterns

I can’t resist mini Easter baskets. They are just so cute and are a great way to display a couple of little plastic eggs or make your candy dish a little cuter.

I’ve made my little Easter basked knitting pattern a few times now and it’s so quick and easy I might make a few more. It’s worked from the bottom up using worsted weight cotton yarn and has an I-cord handle.

Marianna’s Lazy Daisy Days has another cute little basket, which you can work in any yarn and with whatever size needle you like (I’ve actually made one and used worsted weight yarn, which I think is what is shown in the pattern). It’s worked flat so there’s a bit of finishing but because it’s so small it’s still speedy to make.

Use up your leftover sock yarns making adorable baskets with this pattern from Willow Knits. This one is also knit flat and seamed, and it takes about 20 yards of yarn to make one.

The gnome Easter basket from Knitley Road (which you can find on Ravelry) is also really cute and it includes a pattern for tiny sock yarn eggs so you can use even more of your stash!

How about a garter stitch version? This one from Frugal Knitting Haus uses worsted weight yarn and it looks like it is knit flat and seamed. I like how the handle is twisted but you wouldn’t have to do that if you don’t want to.

Admittedly this one is not actually a basket but I couldn’t resist sharing the Easter goodie bag pattern from iKnitDesigns. These simple little bags are worked flat using worsted weight yarn, with the motifs added in duplicate stitch (options include an egg, chick, lamb and rabbit).

And if you want to make baskets of different sizes, this small baskets pattern from Elizabeth’s Gifts has options for you. This pattern has options for a mini basket (2.7 in/7 cm across) and a larger version (though still mini at 4.3 inches/11 cm across) and working stockinette stitch or basketweave on the larger basket.

Larger Basket Knitting Patterns

If you’re looking for bigger Easter basket knitting patterns, these are the projects for you.

Knit an easy Easter basket to hold a few treats.

I have a bigger Easter basket knitting pattern that’s similar to my mini above in that it uses basketweave stitch, but it has a garter stitch handle. I love the multicolored yarn used for this one, but it would be cute in a solid color, too. It calls for DK weight yarn but you can make it even bigger with heavier yarn or holding two strands together.

Ruth B has the Easter Basket Parade, a set of five patterns available on LoveCrafts that’s perfect if you want to make baskets to suit different personalities. There’s one that looks like jeans complete with a pocket, one with a truck applique, and others with stripes, colorwork and welts so everyone in the family can have a different one.

Frugal Knitting Haus also has this cute square Easter basket with a ruffle that uses a little produce basket to give it shape and stability. It uses worsted weight yarn and I think it would also be cute in stripes or with the ruffle worked in a contrasting color.

One of the problems with knitting baskets is making sure the sides are stable. One way to eliminate that problem is by felting the basket, like this one from In Sheep’s Clothing, which you can find on Ravelry. It uses worsted weight yarn and big needles so it will stitch up in no time, and using striping yarn here gives the baskets a beautiful watercolor look.

At the risk of veering away from baskets again, I also feel the need to share this basket like bunny bag from Wool Affair. These would be cute even when it’s not Easter time for animal loving kiddos to carry around. The pattern calls for DK or light worsted weight yarn, but you can adjust the size by adjusting the yarn if you want.

Circular Knitting Machine Easter Basket Patterns

There’s one more category of Easter basket knitting patterns I want to cover and that is those made with a circular knitting machine. Probably because I have one of those, too!

I had so much fun making these little baskets using DK weight yarn and my 40-pin Sentro (but I really want to make a smaller version!). These take almost no time to make, give you a chance to practice knitting flat panels or you can leave off the handle and these are great little everyday storage baskets.

I also love the bunny and chick baskets from Diana Levine Knits, which you can make using the 46 or 48 pin machine but they also use the 22 pin and an I-cord maker (or you can make your own knit cord in a different way if you don’t have an I-cord machine).

I hope this collection of Easter basket knitting patterns inspires you to make some cute baskets this season!
