Here’s a quick and easy creative challenge you can do wherever you are with whatever tools you have on hand: markers, colored pencils, crayons, pens, sidewalk chalk, paintbrushes loaded with paint, whatever.
Hold two or three or more such items in one hand and try to draw with multiple tools at once.
I started out using these fat crayons, but because they weren’t exactly the same height, it was tricky to get all three colors to work at the same time.
Still, this is a fun way to color a background for an art journal page or just to bring a little more color to your life.
I also doodled with some markers — one of them had a smashed tip so this wasn’t any more successful than the crayons.
Even if it didn’t work exactly as I expected, it was a fun little interlude.
I could do this all day.
I have lots of different colored pens, pencils, markers, whatever, within reach whenever I’m at my desk. Maybe you could stash some colorful mark makers in a drawer and do a little multicolored doodling whenever you need a little computer break.
Have you ever tried to draw with multiple tools at once? I thought I might be able to actually draw something, but the closest I got to something recognizable was a heart that’s only really visible in one color.
If you try it, I’d love to see your results!
