I didn’t make a lot of new contacts at Blissdom, being shy and introverted as I am, but I did meet Katie, the sweet lady behind Gadanke, who makes adorable handmade journals. She offered to send me one to review, so here I am. She didn’t ask me to love it, but it would be hard not to!

Katie calls herself a storycatcher, which I think is awesome. Her passion in life is helping people — women especially — to collect and share their stories. The way she does it is by collecting stories on her blog as well as encouraging women to find their own stories through her line of journals and storycatching kits.

She was nice enough to send me a {She} journal, which is 4 by 5.5 inches and is a little collection of papers, some with prompts, some without, that aim to help you catch your story. she journal gadanke

There are also some little pockets. One of mine has a library checkout card. gadanke journal library card

I’m playing with mine as a way to express some ideas about the new book project I’m mulling (I’m about to start writing the proposal for my publisher, eek!).

I love the small size both because it’s not too intimidating and you can take it anywhere and work on it whenever you have a spare moment. cute gadanke journal

She also has travel journals, which would be great fun this time of year.

Another great aspect is that the journals are held together with binder-style rings, so its easy to add more pages and collect more goodness all in one place if you like.

If you’re looking for a way to explore yourself this summer, I hope you’ll check Katie and her products out. You know how important I think it is that we take time for ourselves, be creative and be willing to share our stories, even if we’re just sharing them with ourselves. Katie has the same feelings, and she’s here to help if you aren’t sure how to get started.

Want to check out Gadanke for yourself? Between now and June 19, you can get 10 percent off your order with the code CRAFTASTORY. And let her know I sent you!

Do you keep a journal or scrapbook of any sort? I’d love to hear about it!
