I mentioned recently that my one little word for 2016 is clear.

Even if you don’t have a little word, you might have a word that is meaningful to you or that you want to focus on in the new year. Our Daily Craft Challenge Day 2: Illustrate a WordCreate, for example, is always a good word for me. You might have a word like that, too. wall word art diy

The creative mission for today is to somehow illustrate your word.

In my original post I showed a really basic version of this idea. how i can get clear in 2016

This is just an index card on which I wrote my word using a “fancy” pen (a Tim Holtz Distress Marker, in fact) and then wrote phrases related to the word around the sides in regular blue ink.

But I took it a little further and made a collage for my word, too.

I started out by gathering some random paper crafting supplies, and a piece of cardboard to use as the base.

I used part of an old map, cut some shapes out of paper, and used letters to spell out the word. collage for one little word

Other Ideas

You could also write or stamp your word onto a collage, or just onto a piece of paper or card.

I’ve done this on a smaller scale with an artist trading card style illustration, which is another great idea and might take a little less time.

Of course if you don’t have a lot of supplies, just writing the word in fancy script (or making an illustration on your computer) is a great option, too. Print it out so you can display it somewhere prominent.

Whatever you do, have fun! And be sure to share your finished projects on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #ourdailycraft so I can see what you’re creating and what words you chose.
