This knit mini snowman can sit on a table or you can make it into a Christmas ornament a gift bag decoration. It doesn’t take long or a lot of yarn to make and it can be embellished in lots of different ways. Let’s get to knitting!
Supplies
You’ll need less than 20 yards of white, worsted/medium/weight 3 yarn. I used Caron Simply Soft Party in Snow Sparkle.
When the knit mini snowman was done I decided it needed a scarf, which took 10-11 yards of a different yarn (I think it might be Cascade 220 in Rainforest Heather, but it was literally just the yarn that was on my desk when I needed it. A tiny bit of black yarn for embroidery if you want to add it.
You’ll need 3 or 4 size 7 US/4.5 double pointed knitting needles, a small pair of scissors, a yarn needle and a bit of polyfil.
I used a locking stitch marker to note the beginning of the round, too.

Size
Gauge isn’t important, but you’ll want to be able to add stuffing without it showing. The finished size of mine is about 4.5 inches tall and 7 inches around at the belly. That’s 11.43 by 17.78 cm.
The scarf is a little less than an inch/2.5 cm wide and 10 inches/25 cm long. You can make it however long you like or leave it off.

Knit in the front and back of every stitch around. 24 stitches total.

Purl 1 round. Here’s where I added my stitch marker but you can do it any time. If you want to divide onto 3 needles instead of 2, now would be a good time to do that, too.

Knit for 2 inches/5 cm.

Knit 2 stitches together around. 12 stitches total.

Knit 3 rounds.

*Knit 1, knit in the front and back of the next stitch. Repeat from * around. 18 stitches.

Knit 5 rounds. Add embroidery on the body if you want and stuff the body here.
*Knit 1, knit 2 together. Repeat from * around. 12 stitches.

Knit 1 round. Add eyes and stuff the head here.

Knit 2 together around. 6 stitches.

Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Thread the yarn on a needle and slide the stitches off the needles and onto the yarn. Add more stuffing to the head if you want, then pull tight on the yarn, close up the hole at the top and bury the yarn end in the body.
Knitting the Scarf

You can work the scarf for your knit mini snowman on your double pointed needles but it’s worked flat. Cast on 4 stitches and knit in garter stitch to desired length. Mine is about 10 inches/25.4 cm but I worked until it could wrap around the body and tie in front and I liked the length.
