It’s day 40 of 2016. Already. I’ve been meaning to do a little post looking back on the first month, now a month plus a little more.
I managed to keep my promise to myself so far and have posted a craft challenge prompt every day this year.
When I started, I wasn’t really sure I could do it.
I’m still not.
But I’ve proven to myself 40 times that I can. Even when the kid is sick or I’m not feeling great or whatever is going on.
That means a lot to me.
I also published a lot of other content in January. Before looking, I guessed it was about 50 posts in all; it was actually 49 (and this is my 17th for February, bringing the total on the year to 66 in 40 days, an average of just over one and a half posts a day).
That’s staggering to a person who has struggled for years with the fact of her blog being called Our Daily Craft when it wasn’t daily or always very crafty.
Sometimes just saying you’re going to do a thing is enough to get you to make it happen.
I hope that continues.

And I hope I keep publishing a lot of great content that I’m really proud of. I feel like there was a lot of great stuff in January.
My top non-challenge post was about how to tie a knot for hand-sewing, thanks to my friend Anne sharing it on Craft Gossip.
The top challenge post was about illustrating your One Little Word. I really loved that project, too.
Other hits were my post talking about my most popular post of last year (which is heading toward 25,000 pageviews!), my thoughts on getting rid of books (with a handy flowchart) and my review of Influencer Marketing for Dummies.
What about my favorites? Making the monkey drum with the girl was a lot of fun, and perfect for Chinese New Year. I really enjoyed making the ransom-note style quote bookmark. And trying broomstick lace crochet, which was something I’d always wanted to try, was a highlight for me as well.
