Sometimes this idea I’m focusing on this month — creating space — is as mental as it is physical. I need to create space in my mind and heart as well as in my office in order to create well and to live well.
I actually just wrote down this quote yesterday:
Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.
–Dee Hock
Sounds great, right? And it is.
But today I just needed a corner of desk.

Can you even tell there’s a desk under there? This is the long end of the L of my desk, and it’s where my sewing machine sits when I’m using it. I was hoping for a crafternoon today (though as I write this I’m down to about an hour before I have to go get the girl) and one of the things on my agenda was finally sewing up some quilt blocks for the sewalong I’m participating in.
That probably won’t get done today, but now I have space for other projects, too.

These felted balls are a winter decor item you’ll see soon on Eggs and Herbs. I’ll let you know. Also, please ignore the stuff under the desk. That may be the worst thing about having a glass desk: everyone can see your business, even when it’s not on top. Also, no drawers.
What’s standing in the way of your creativity? What could you do about it right now? Sharing is half the battle.
