This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Deb Moretti! Please read on for my review of the Melissa & Doug Whittle World bus set!
A few weeks ago I told you about the Melissa & Doug Terrific Twenty Holiday Gift List and mentioned that I would be doing a giveaway of one of the products on the list. (As an aside, they’re doing another Terrific Twenty giveaway, which you can enter by filling out this form. They’ll be giving away one of each toy on the list.)
I was holding out until I got the product I requested to “review,” the Whittle World Wooden School Bus Set. I first saw this little cutie at Rhea Lana and didn’t buy it, but I figured the Bit would love it because she loves playing the “going to school” game and sending her dollhouse kids to school in the car we got them for her birthday.
So while there are a lot of great things on this listthat I would love to have, I knew that had to be my pick. And I was not wrong.
I got it all out of the box before she got home from school, and she saw it up on the counter and was immediately interested. It’s a wooden school bus with a driver and six passengers, and there’s also a little bus stop and the front of a school.
The bus and school doors open and close, and the stop sign on the bus goes in and out. So cute!
Parents, let me tell you, this toy was a hit. Usually when we get home from school all she wants to do is watch TV (that’s the only time she gets it), but she played with this toy without a glance at the TV for a good 20 minutes, and has come back to it a few times since.
If you have a kid who loves transportation, or dolls, or putting things in and taking them out again, this is a great choice. It’s all wood other than the little ties that hold the moving parts, and is recommended for children 3 and up because the figures are kind of small. It retails for $24.99 and can be personalized if you order direct from Melissa & Doug for $1.99.
I’m excited to try some other things in the Whittle World line, which now includes a fire truck, airplane and luggage carrier (so cute!) and a train and platform.
One For Me, One For You
Now for the fun part! Melissa & Doug were kind enough to offer me a toy to give to one of you lovely people! Give it to your kid, a friend or family member’s kid, donate it to someone who needs it, whatever.
I chose the Doorbell House, mostly because I think it’s cool and had the school bus not been one of the choices I would have picked this one. It’s a really cute little house with a carry handle and four doors. Match the keys to the locks to open the doors and put little people inside.
Of course each door has its own doorbell, too, but your kids don’t have to know if you’re anti-battery.
It retails for $29.99 and is rated for kids 3 and up. If you win, it will be shipped directly from Melissa & Doug, and I’d love to hear a review after you get it!
This is a Rafflecopter entry for ease of tallying. Only leaving a blog comment is mandatory, and somehow that didn’t work right the last time I did a Rafflecopter (they were counting in the system but not showing on the blog) so if your comment doesn’t show don’t worry; or if you are worried let me know and I’ll check that you’re entered.
Get extra entries by liking me or Melissa & Doug on Facebook or following me on Twitter, where you may get bored of all the talk of knitting.
This giveaway runs through Dec. 8, and I’ll announce the winner soon thereafter. Please share around, unless you want to be greedy! Good luck.
(Disclosure: Melissa & Doug sent me the Whittle World set so I would tell you about it and the other great toys on the Terrific Twenty list. They’re also providing the prize in this giveaway. But they didn’t ask me to say nice things about their stuff. I just love it.)
